Data Licences
Last updated: October 2026
This page explains the sources and reuse conditions of market data used by this site. The licences of source data are separate from the terms for using this site's forecasts.
Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de
Actual day-ahead prices for DE, AT, BE, CZ, DK1, DK2, FR, NL, NO2, PL and SE4 are sourced from SMARD.de, Bundesnetzagentur and are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
SMARD also supplies wind and solar generation, consumption, day-ahead consumption forecasts and installed wind capacity for Germany and Austria. German fundamentals cover the Germany/Luxembourg bidding zone; Austrian fundamentals cover Austria.
This site aggregates the source values into hourly prices and power values. Derived features and model forecasts are this site's calculations. The source does not endorse this site or its forecasts.
CC BY 4.0 permits sharing, adaptation and commercial reuse with appropriate attribution, a licence link and an indication of changes. Anyone reusing that data must credit Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de. The restrictions set by eupowerprices.com do not restrict the rights granted by that licence for SMARD data.
ENTSO-E and Original Market Data Providers
For areas whose day-ahead prices are not sourced from SMARD, this site displays prices sourced through the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform for comparison with this site's forecasts, which are intended for non-commercial information and research purposes only. This site is not intended for redistributing those prices or provide an actual-price data service.
Actual prices are delivered to website charts through presentation endpoints solely in order to render those comparisons. Scraping, harvesting or bulk extraction of these prices through the website or its presentation endpoints is expressly prohibited under the Terms of Use. The forecast API and price export buttons provide forecast outputs, not actual-price series or actual-price downloads. Current-week averages may combine already-published prices with forecasts for the remaining hours.
ENTSO-E is the publication platform; rights in the underlying market data remain with the original data providers. Display on this website does not grant a licence to reuse those prices for commercial purposes.
ENTSO-E also supplies other generation, demand and capacity inputs, plus nuclear availability and transfer-capacity data. The primary data owners for these system inputs are transmission system operators (TSOs) and other reporting organisations, rather than the nominated electricity market operators (NEMOs) supplying auction prices.
Elering AS
Day-ahead prices for Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are sourced from Elering's public dashboard API. Elering AS is the Estonian transmission system operator; the prices themselves are cleared by Nord Pool and redistributed by Elering, so rights in the underlying market data remain with the exchange and its participants.
This site credits the data to Elering AS. Prices are retrieved in the market's native intervals and averaged to whole hours for comparison with this site's hourly forecasts; an hour the source has published only in part is left blank rather than averaged. Those forecasts are this site's calculations, not Elering's.
As with other actual prices on this site, these values are displayed for comparison with forecasts and are intended for non-commercial information and research purposes. Scraping, harvesting or bulk extraction of them through the website or its presentation endpoints is prohibited under the Terms of Use, and display here grants no licence to reuse the prices commercially.
Open-Meteo
Weather inputs are retrieved through Open-Meteo.com: forecasts of wind, temperature and solar irradiance, the matching model history used to train this site's models, and, where enabled, ensemble members used for scenario ranges. All of them are requested from the ECMWF IFS model, so the underlying numerical weather prediction originates with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and is redistributed by Open-Meteo. The Methodology page describes which endpoint serves which role.
Open-Meteo API data are offered under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), as set out in the Open-Meteo licence. That licence permits sharing, adaptation and commercial reuse with appropriate credit, a licence link and an indication of changes. The licence covers the data; access to the API is governed separately by Open-Meteo's Terms of Use, under which the free service is limited to non-commercial use within published rate limits and commercial use requires a paid plan. This site credits its weather data to Open-Meteo.com and the underlying model forecasts to ECMWF. Open-Meteo's own source code is published separately under the GNU Affero General Public Licence v3.
This site does not republish weather observations or forecasts as a dataset. Weather values are inputs to wind, solar, demand and price models; the derived features and the resulting forecasts are this site's calculations. Open-Meteo does not endorse this site or its forecasts, and gives no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness or availability of the weather data it serves.
Fingrid Open Data
Finnish wind generation measurements, Fingrid's own wind generation forecast, installed wind capacity and a near-term electricity consumption forecast are retrieved from Fingrid Open Data. They are inputs to the wind and demand models for the FI bidding zone.
Datasets produced by Fingrid are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Where a dataset is produced by another organisation, the licence stated with that dataset applies instead. This site credits the data as Source Fingrid / data.fingrid.fi, license CC 4.0 BY.
The data is used in modified form: values are aligned to the hourly resolution used here, stored alongside other sources, and combined into this site's wind, demand and price forecasts. Those forecasts are this site's calculations rather than Fingrid's, and Fingrid does not endorse this site or its forecasts. Fingrid uses reasonable efforts to provide accurate and up-to-date data, but does not warrant its completeness or accuracy, and Fingrid's own legal terms apply to its Open Data service.
Finnish Environment Institute (Syke)
Finnish hydrological conditions come from the Syke Hydrologiarajapinta: areal precipitation and areal snow water equivalent for selected drainage areas. They are inputs to the price model for the FI bidding zone.
Open data distributed by Syke is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), as set out in Syke's use licence and responsibilities. Individual datasets may carry specific restrictions, stated in their own metadata descriptions. This site credits the data as Areal precipitation and snow water equivalent / Source: Finnish Environment Institute (Syke).
The values are used in modified form: the selected drainage areas are summarised into median and low-decile series, which the models read alongside other inputs. The resulting forecasts are this site's calculations rather than Syke's, and Syke does not endorse this site or its forecasts. Syke strives to provide error-free information but accepts no liability for direct or indirect damage arising from errors, omissions or the use of the material.
Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE)
Norwegian hydrological conditions come from NVE's reservoir statistics: weekly reservoir fill per Norwegian elspot area, in percent and TWh, together with the weekly reference levels used to express how far current fill sits from normal. They are inputs to the price model for the NO bidding zones.
NVE publishes its open data under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD), which NVE states is compatible with CC BY 3.0 Norway. This site credits the data as Contains data under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD) made available by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), and links to the service used, as NVE asks.
The values are used in modified form: weekly figures are carried across the hours they cover and combined with the weekly reference to derive deviation-from-normal series, which the price model reads alongside other inputs. The resulting forecasts are this site's calculations rather than NVE's, and NVE does not endorse this site or its forecasts. NVE provides its data as it is: it may contain errors and omissions, NVE gives no guarantee as to how current the information is, and accepts no responsibility for erroneous or misleading information derived from it.
Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI)
Swedish hydrological conditions come from SMHI Vattenwebb: modelled daily river flow for selected drainage basins. They are inputs to the price model for the SE1, SE2 and SE3 bidding zones.
SMHI's open data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 SE (CC BY 4.0 SE), which permits copying, distribution and adaptation, including for commercial purposes, provided SMHI is named as the source and changes to the material are indicated. This site credits the data as Source: SMHI.
The data is changed: the configured basins are aggregated into one flow series per bidding zone and compared with their seasonal median to derive a deviation-from-normal series, which the price model reads alongside other inputs. The flow figures are themselves SMHI model output rather than measurements. The resulting price forecasts are this site's calculations rather than SMHI's, and SMHI does not endorse this site or its forecasts.
Nager.Date | Nager.Holidays
Public holiday dates for each modelled country come from the Nager.Date holiday API. They set a single calendar flag on the hours of a public holiday, which the demand and price models read as one input among many. Demand behaves differently on a holiday, which is why the flag exists.
This source carries no Creative Commons licence. Access is governed by Nager.Holidays' Terms of Service, under which the API may be used for private or non-profit projects while commercial purposes require active sponsorship, and the holiday information may not be used to publish or operate a competing holiday portal. This site publishes no holiday calendar, list or lookup: the dates exist here only as a model input, and no holiday dataset is exposed through the site or its API.
Nager.Holidays does not warrant the availability, accuracy or reliability of the service, and does not endorse this site or its forecasts.
Other Data Inputs
The Methodology page lists every source this site uses and what each one provides. Any source not named above remains subject to its own provider's licence and terms.
