How model effects are calculated

SHAP is a method that explains how the model arrived at its forecast. For each hour, the model has a reference value, and SHAP assigns the difference between that reference and the raw forecast across the model inputs. These effects add back up to the forecast. The reference is a model baseline, not the seasonal average shown elsewhere on this page.

This page averages each input's effect across the next 24 forecast hours. The labels Strongly, Moderately, and Slightly compare each displayed effect with the strongest current driver. They are relative rankings for this forecast, not fixed price thresholds. Closely related inputs may be combined into one driver by adding their model effects.

The underlying values explain the model's calculation, not necessarily a causal effect on the market. Seasonal comparisons shown when inspecting a driver are provided as supporting market context and are separate from the SHAP calculation.

More information about SHAP is available in the SHAP documentation .
